Dusty Fancher has extensive experience working with Michigan’s government. Prior to joining Midwest Strategy Group, Dusty served in the Governor’s Office as the Deputy Director of Legislative Affairs. In this position, Dusty served as the Governor’s representative to the Michigan Senate, coordinated legislative policy positions for 19 state departments, and negotiated legislation and policy with local governments, interest groups, lobbyists, and elected officials.

Prior to working in the Administration, Dusty served as Legislative Liaison for the Michigan Department of Transportation. In this capacity she represented the Department before the Michigan Legislature on issues related to policy and budget as well as helping to resolve local road and traffic-related issues.

Dusty also has experience working inside the Legislature, serving as the primary Policy Analyst for the Michigan Senate. Her primary responsibilities included staffing the Committees of Appropriations, Gaming & Casino Oversight, and Transportation. In addition, Dusty was the primary budget analyst for the Appropriation Sub-Committees on Higher Education, Community Colleges, Capitol Outlay, Transportation, and General Government.

Dusty began her career in Michigan government as a Policy Specialist for the Michigan Environmental Council where she lobbied at the state and national levels for legislative and administrative changes in transportation and land use policy.

Dusty received both her Bachelor’s Degree in Community Relations and Master’s Degree in Resource Development from Michigan State University. Dusty is a lifetime member of the Gold Key National Honors Society and won the Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities Award.

Dusty has served on several transition teams for both local and state elected officials and is the Vice-President of the City of Lansing Parks and Recreation Board.
